Ashley Ferguson grew up in Birmingham, AL. She went to boarding school in Hartford, CT, and college in Nashville, TN. After college she worked and backpacked overseas for three years before returning to Birmingham. She has been married for over 30 years and has three children. She still loves to hike, backpack, and travel.

She is an active member in her church where she currently serves on the Alter Guild. She participates in various service programs with her church including The Family Promise program which provides temporary housing for families in need and Defenders of Orphans which raises money for school children in Kenya.

Ashley has a BA in Psychology from Vanderbilt University and an MA in Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  She is trained in EMDR.

She has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1993.  Clinical experience includes working with teens in day treatment and residential treatment settings. She also maintained a private practice working with pre-adolescents through adults. Her current position with Trinity Counseling includes adolescents through adults in individual and family therapy.

Ashley’s goal is to provide a safe and non-judgemental atmosphere in which clients can explore areas that prevent them from leading a productive and fulfilling life. Such areas might include relationship conflicts, anger management, anxiety, depression, grief, behavior problems, or any other issue impacting one’s life. She hopes to meet clients where they are, helping them find grace for themselves as they explore the ineffective and effective coping skills they are using. She also seeks to empower her clients by encouraging them to identify the choices they can make to improve their lives.
