There are three birds on a wire. One decides to fly away, how many are left?
Answer: Three. The one just decided to fly away. It didn’t actually do it.

Perhaps you have decided that you are going to change. Are you ready to do so? David believes that we already have everything we need within ourselves, including the presence of the Divine within us. As a therapist, David’s role is to create a space where individuals can do the work it takes to move toward wholeness. David’s focus is on the individual’s possibilities, not their pathology. David incorporates nature, poetry, and mindfulness skills in his own life and in his therapy. If you are willing to work or need help deciding whether you are willing, David is prepared and excited to do what he can to be of some help.

David was born and raised in Southern California, he then lived in Atlanta for ten years before making Birmingham his home in 2009. David is a fan of outdoor activities including hiking, Cross-fit, and nearly all sports. As well as sitting in nature, where, for him, the real work is done. David has three adult children, including a daughter living and working in England, and two sons in Georgia. He and his wife were married in 2014 and live with Sadie, their Great Pyrenees. He is also active in developing and discovering his spiritual self.

David received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from California State University and his Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He furthered his education with a post-graduate degree at the University of Alabama. David has been trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, which is used to treat clients diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, as well as EMDR, used to treat past trauma.  David also has experience working in substance abuse treatment centers.

There is freedom waiting for you,
On the breezes of the sky.
And you ask, “What if I fall?”
Oh, but my darling,
What if you fly?
