Mission Statement

The mission of Trinity Counseling is to care for those in need of spiritual and psychological healing. Through the work of licensed and certified professionals, we provide seasoned counsel, therapy and outreach to anyone regardless of their age, religious, racial, or economic backgrounds. We serve individuals, families, religious organizations, businesses, pastoral leaders and first-responders at reasonable or reduced rates, ensuring that no one is turned away due to financial difficulties.

Founding Principal
Trinity Counseling was incorporated in July 2000 as a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization. Founder, Fr. Don Richards responded to a vital need for healing and counseling in Birmingham and surrounding localities with the following principal as his motivation:
“…to bind up the broken hearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness…
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor…
to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve…
to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.…” ~ Isaiah 61: 1–3

Philosophy
We believe that God is the author of all health: spiritual, mental and physical. The ministry of counseling creates an atmosphere of freedom, acceptance, and complete confidentiality, facilitating and nurturing emotional restoration, maturity, growth and healing. The professionals and services provided by Trinity Counseling encourage growth by embracing the spiritual, psychological, social and physical needs of the person. We bring the business of healing to young and old through individual, family, couple or relational-based therapy and counseling. By merging seasoned, proven counseling methods with solid biblical principles in a holistic setting, Trinity hopes to be a conduit, allowing God’s healing power to flow into the lives of the broken or needy who seek to improve or develop their personal, ministerial or business situations.

"No amount of falls will really undo us if we keep on picking ourselves up each time. We shall of course be very muddy and tattered children by the time we reach home. But the bathrooms are all ready, the towels put out, and the clean clothes in the airing cupboard. The only fatal thing is to lose one's temper and give it up. It is when we notice the dirt that God is most present in us: it is the very sign of His presence." ~ C.S. Lewis
